Most of the time they knew eachother they were fighting, and when they weren't they were still in danger of war. I think Clarke realized how much Lexa truly meant to her during the six years on the ground with Madi alone. WebTheir building relationship in the rest of S3 was beautiful and had potential, but Lexa was destined to die because of the COL plot, in order to discover ALIE 2.0. But all the comments in the S3 finale and S4 about Clarke being in love with Lexa felt a lot like damage control for the fan outrage and backlash from Lexa's death and controversy.
